Vision

Our vision for ministry can be summed up in three statements:
  • PASSION FOR GOD
  • CARING DEEPLY FOR PEOPLE
  • GROWING AS DISCIPLES
It is based on Jesus' words in the book of Mark: "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength... Love your neighbor as yourself. There is no commandment greater than these." Our Strategy is what puts "legs" on the vision and turns it into action. The way we will carry out our vision is:
MEETING YOU WHERE YOU ARE and WALKING TOGETHER TOWARD CHRIST

This strategy leads us to move out of our comfort zone, go to people who have needs (that's everybody isn't it?) and help fill those needs. We will fix fences and wash windows if that is what is needed. In the process we will make new friends and together we will journey to be more like Jesus. We also recognize that to fulfull our calling we must develop our ministry to reflect the 5 biblical purposes found in Acts 2.
WORSHIP
OUTREACH
DISCIPLESHIP
FELLOWSHIP
SERVICE
We will strive to fulfill this vision so that the Family of God at Southern Heights grows into people "sold out" for Christ.

Doctrine and Beliefs

Statement of Faith Of Southern Heights Church:

We accept the Bible as the infallible Word of God, and that it is the final authority on faith and life and we see all other doctrinal standards as subordinate to the Bible.

We believe in the Apostles’ Creed as an accurate summary of the basic truth of the Christian faith.

We recognize that the Heidelberg Catechism, the Belgic Confession and the Canons of Dort are foundational to a Reformed understanding of scripture.

We believe in the Triune God; Father, Son, and Holy Spirit who created heaven and earth and upholds and governs them by His divine will.

We believe that people, originally created in the image of God, fell and cannot be right with God unless they are “born again” (John 3:1-21) through personal faith in the saving work of Jesus Christ.

We look upon the church as Christ’s living body on earth. We are called to be His covenant people to discover, develop, and use our gifts, and to reach out with His open arms of love.

We believe that church membership should be given only to those who confess Christ as their personal Savior, and desire to live under Him as Lord.
